"Evaluating the impact of investing in medical research" says that "the MRC is working with several top UK universities to try to find out the impact of its spending". This is in line with a general move in Government to find out if the money it has thrown into publicly funded research is delivering anything of value beyond the science itself. The article says that "The MRC is currently working with several universities on pilot projects to evaluate the impact of local MRC grants.
